An Overview of Basic Operations: An Excel Online Tutorial

Assingment #2-
I found this tutorial to be a great review of what I learnt with an outstanding professor (Prof. Jorisch) in MIS.

I remembered most things and was therefore able to go through the tutorial very quickly.
The only thing that I hadn't remembered was how to use 'absolute' and 'reference' cells and that part of the tutorial was extremely valuable.

Also I liked the part where it explained what the different common error values are and how to fix them. If you don't know what those funny symbols mean, they can be very frustrating to deal with while trying to get work done, especially when a timeline is involved. Knowing how to act efficiently and effectively to deal with the error is a great skill to have.

September 11 Reflections

I remember being in school on the morning of Sept 11. I heard the news and didn't really know what it meant. Living and growing up in Toronto, I didn't really know what the WTC was or how important of a building it was. It took until that night when I got home from school and saw the news reports for me to fully comprehend what was going on.
However, on Thursday September 11th of this year, I went down to ground zero. The scene down there was pretty intense. I was there at 11pm and there were still thousands of people there, mourning, praying, rallying and reflecting. It was a very intense emotional time and I made sure to take out my tehillim (psalms) and say a few chapters. It was my first time at ground zero and I'm glad I finally made my way down there, especially on Sept 11th.

Excel Tutorial Session Additional Comment

I just wanted to add on to my previous comment by saying that although the tutorial was good, the fact that they used pictures instead of video to explain what they were talking about was a major setback. If the picture would have been replaced by a video that showed what the audio was discussing, then the tutorial would have been way more beneficial to its listeners (and unfortunately not watchers!)

Excel Tutorial Session

The Excel tutorial session was very informative and really gave me a great 'heads up' as to what to expect from the semester. I'm not so familiar with excel so it is rather hard for me to say whether I think the improvements are positive or negative, but it seems like the thinking that Microsoft had behind their decisions was logical and creative. I'm excited to go ahead and use this new program, especially considering that it will be the 'way of the future'. I also think that it was a great idea to assign this tutorial before we got to class because now we don't have to waste time figuring out where things are on the ribbon and can jump right into the program and 'get our hands dirty'.
